Why are Cats Afraid of Water?

Many friends who have raised cats will find such a common phenomenon: no matter how gentle the cats are at ordinary times, when it comes to bathing time, they either struggle unwillingly to jump into the basin or make earth-shaking "screams" in the basin.

Why are cats so afraid of water? In fact, this is a cat's hereditary nature since ancient times, any kind of cat is!

Cats' ancestors mainly lived in desert and semi-desert areas or arid grasslands, where water was scarce all the year round, and they had little contact with water. Even the main way to get water was to absorb water from prey, which led to their ignorance of water and even fear of water.

How can some cats keep their bodies clean without bathing for a long time? In fact, we usually find that cats mainly lick their hair to keep their hair clean.

Not all felidae are as afraid of water as cats. Tigers, Jaguars and other felidae are very water-loving animals. They often go into the water to play and even catch prey.
